The competencies (C3) are specific coaching behaviors that have been identified through a decade’s worth of coaching interventions. The competencies are explicit and demonstrable, and they are intended to help coaches consider a wide range of practices. The competencies naturally support goal-setting for coaches, who, independently or with support, can identify areas of weakness to prioritize their improvement efforts based on the coaching behavior’s level of intensity and/or impact on the teacher. Coaches can use the core coaching competencies to increase their use of specific coaching behaviors that improve interactions with teachers and administrators. In this section, you can learn about specific competency areas, sub-competency areas, and competency statements.
